I have two of the original versions from Maxxima and decided to get this model for my dad.

This model has 6 LEDs and is significantly brighter than the 1 LED version. However, it is not 6x as bright as I suspect each LED gets less power. It does add a bit of redundancy in case one LED dies (technically the LED is unlikely to die but its connection would come loose instead).

Even with the rough screen, you can still clearly make out the LED pinpoints. It does not disperse the light as much as anticipated which means that when this goes off at eye-level it could be irritating.

The sensor works great. My two older models have held up for almost a year now. I have them on either side of my outside door so that I can see when I come up to my door at night. They provide plenty of light for this purpose and one would be sufficient if I had used this particular model. They have been robust enough to survive outside, though my porch does shelter them... 4.0 out of 5 stars Capable, but Pricey Energy Efficient Night Light, September 23, 2009

Maxxima's MLN-15 is an LED Occupancy Sensor Night Light. This night light has 6 very bright LEDs behind a clear check-patterned plastic cover and comes in the color white. This night light is on the pricey side for a night light, but has a lot of versatility:

1. It's primarily designed to operate on 4 AA batteries, but if you purchase a 6V 300mA DC adapter, you could plug it in.
2. It can be on all the time, off all the time, or only come on when it senses motion AND it happens to be dark
3. It has a flat bottom so you can set it on a flat surface or you can use the included mounting bracket (that swivels) to put it wherever you would like

The light does go off after about 30 seconds in auto mode after it stops detecting motion. The infra-red motion sensor works better when it is cold as opposed to hot. The manufacturer claims a range of 16 feet for sensing motion. LEDs use little energy so the batteries should last quite a while. It is... Read more

I purchased this in hopes of using it at the landing on my stairs; there is no window an it can be dark, especially at night. In an effort to save money by not always leaving the six light chandelier on, I planned on plugging this in at the top of the landing. However, it comes out of the box ready for 4 AA batteries... I've had enough experience with battery powered LED's to know that it wasn't going to work well. However, I gave it a shot, I installed six fully charged Ni-MH batteries and the light lasted for about three hours. Luckily I have a 6V AC/DC transformer that I can use. The light is bright, but I cannot use is as I had hoped because of the need for the transformer. I would have been much more satisfied if the light came ready to plug directly into the outlet. The light is bright enough to serve its purpose, but the need for batteries or a transformer makes is difficult to use.

Maxxima's MLN-16 is an LED Occupancy Sensor Night Light. This night light has 6 very bright LEDs in a row behind a line-patterned plastic cover and comes in the color white. This night light is on the pricey side for a night light, but is a unique shape and doesn't have to/cannot be plugged in. It takes 4 AA batteries.

1. It can be on all the time, off all the time, or only come on when it senses motion AND it happens to be dark, provided you do not inadvertently shadow or cover up the sensor.
2. It has a flat bottom and top so you can set it on a flat surface or you can use the included mounting bracket (that swivels and rotates) to mount it wherever you would like
3. Its unique shape should allow you to put it in places a regular night light will not fit - for example mine is in a triangular window sill next to a staircase

The light automatically shuts off after about 30 seconds in auto mode (after it stops detecting motion.) The infra-red motion... Read more

Mounted this led light under the cabinet above my toilet. Works great plenty of light. And is hidded underneath the cabinet because of it's size/shape. I no longer have to turn on the bright light in the middle of the night.

We bought several (5?) types of battery powered LED lights at one time for various places in our home. This one is the most unique in its shape being a long, thin bar as opposed to a more square array of bulbs.

It is not the best in terms of light-sensitivity (most are too willing to come on, in my opinion, wasting battery power), but it does work as expected in our basement stairwell, and it was easy to set in place for the first few days, then very easy for my husband to attach to the wall when he got around to it. We've had it in place for a couple of weeks on the first set of batteries.

Maxxima 3 LED Occupancy Sensor Light for $12.99

Customer Rating :
Rating: 3.7

List Price : Price : $12.99
Maxxima 3 LED Occupancy Sensor Light

Product Description

Maxxima introduces the MLS-03 occupancy sensor light. The battery operated MLS-03 automatically turns itself on when motion is detected by the built in sensor and turns itself off 30 seconds after you leave the area. Dusk to dawn sensor prevents daylight activation. The MLS-01 also has the option of being left on at all times with its manual override switch.

This is a perfect item to be kept in a closet, bathroom, or any space which requires lighting. With its occupancy sensor you can set the light to automatically go on when it detects motion at night. This model is an upgrade to our original model the MLS-01 which has 1 LED in it.

  • Auto On/Off Motion Sensor
  • 3 Super Bright White LED's
  • Built-In Dusk To Dawn Sensor
  • 20 Ft. Motion Range
  • 1-2 Years Battery Life (in motion sensor mode)

Deciding on what kind of nightlight to buy may seem like a very simple task. After all, if you've seen one nightlight you've seen them all. Right? Well when it comes to motion sensor lights, not all are created equal.

First of all I was looking for a nightlight, which is for our master bathroom, which would have a strong, accurate motion sensor. However, I also wanted a device that wouldn't turn on if the main overhead lights were already on. This meant that I needed a device that not only had a motion sensor but also a light (dusk/dawn) sensor. I also didn't want a light that would have to be plugged in, due to the location of the outlet in our bathroom. This meant that I needed something powered by batteries. But everyone knows that a standard bulb will drain small batteries very quickly. Therefore I wanted a device that used LED technology to produce the light. I wanted something fairly bright but not piercing. After extensive searching and review reading, all... Read more

This unit runs "off the grid" - meaning, on 3 AA batteries and with the motion detector, this is one sweet, bright gem! I love it!! I never knew 3 LED's could be this bright! It a good, compact unit, about 4 inches tall and 3 wide. You can wall mount it or leave it on the counter like I do. It's about an 1 and a half inch deep. The power switch is a 3 function, on, off and motion. It runs on batteries only, no wall-wart jack.

There are three models of motion sensing night light made by maxxima. They contain one, two or three LEDs. This is the model with the most light output with 3 LEDs. The light is a bluish color. Its about as bright a regular night light. This model does not plug into the wall. Its only battery powered. It uses 4AA batteries. The motion sensor coverage is ok, but not great.
