2.0 out of 5 stars Not even close to 10 years., March 4, 2010

Worked OK when they worked. The light output was just bright enough to illuminate a long hallway with a nice soft light-blue color. Unfortunately there are two major downsides to this product.

1. The photoelectric sensor sounds good on paper but it almost never works. I've found that it only works when direct/focused light hits the sensor--such as one from a flashlight. That means I have the delightful chore of unplugging each and every night light from the wall socket every morning because there is no off switch!

2. It does not last anywhere near the 10 years mentioned in the product description. I purchased this product back in Oct 09 and two of the four stopped working. HUGE disappointment.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just Ok. Lifespan at 1 year., May 31, 2010

In spite of the reviews that said the sensor isn't too sensitive to turn the light off during day, I decided to purchase a set since the price was too good to pass up. Got the items and tried them out immediately. And no surprise, the sensors are really really crappy. They don't turn off during the day unless DIRECT and I mean really direct sunlight hits the sensor. But then again, it's low consumption more than makes up for it. I wouldn't care if they were on 24 hrs a day like the one in my Mom's bedroom. If it does bother you, you can turn them off by shining a LED flashlight at the sensor like I do, whenever I feel bored. It turns them off for the day and it automatically turns on at night. If this, bothers you, you'd be better off buying a more expensive one. I had this for 1 month now, and the 2 units (one is on 24hrs a day) that I used is still good.

Update 2/7/10:
One of the units died on me, but the 3 others are still working 24/7.

4.0 out of 5 stars Always on, but still energy and money efficient, October 1, 2010

Even with all the lights on in my house, these night lights stay on. The photo sensor is somehow not able to detect light unless it shines directly into the lens. Packaging says they burn for 11.5 continuous years at 10 hours per day. Since mine don't seem to ever turn off I guess mine will last half as long??? At any rate, this product is energy and money efficient even if they burn 24/7. Plus, I love the blue color of the LEDs...just like my solar landscape lights. I will buy more.
